Sara Abdeen

Visual artist, poet, and art therapist

From the very beginning of my studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting, I realized that art is not merely an aesthetic expression, but a path toward healing and self-discovery. With every line and color, I became more connected to myself; in every painting, I expressed what I could not put into words.

I graduated in 2004 and earned a diploma in Art History. After becoming a mother, I turned to writing—poetry, children’s books, and essays—using words as a way to stay grounded and to cope with what I was losing amid the noise of life.

Over time, my passion for the relationship between art and the psyche deepened. I pursued a diploma in Creativity and its Applications from the Psychology Department at Cairo University, followed by a diploma in Art in Educational and Therapeutic Contexts based on the anthroposophic approach with German artist Petra Rosenkranz. There, I rediscovered the profound integration of soul, mind, and body—and how art can become a true path to healing and wholeness.

I later completed a diploma in Art Therapy at the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University, and published several articles in the field.

Today, I teach the Art Therapy program within the Creativity and its Applications diploma at Cairo University. I believe in the integration of the arts—writing, painting, and sculpture—as powerful means for self-exploration and transformation.
